>THURSDAY MARCH 19th 2009

I became an uncle (again!) the other day and people are starting to wonder if I (the oldest child) will be the last to have a child... well, there's only one way to find out!

Anyway, it's amazing how cute baby Cassidy is:

WEDNESDAY MARCH 18th 2009

You know you wanted more flashbacks and there's a whole lot coming... just got a camera that transfers old 8mm videotape and there's a lot of stuff on the one tape I have in San Diego. For now, here's two more photos courtesy of the Soens archive:

These were scanned off a contact sheet, that's why they're not so great.

SUNDAY MARCH 15th 2009

No words necessary. Well, maybe a couple. I think most of these were shot in 1995--Thanksgiving at Chris Falzone's house in the St. Augustine cubes (way before it was cool). This trip was when we found out Falzone's secret fear...

Bob with long hair, me with that damn FYP shirt, and Zeus wearing a QP shirt years before he actually needed to wear the shirt.

I think that I probably grabbed Scott's camera here. Zeus, Falzone, Bob, and Scott.

Looks like we were getting prepared for a thrilling surf session at Vilano's walk overs.

Zeus. Surfboard by AJ Finan, sticker by Rancid.

Bob is always the first one to have his wetsuit on. This may have been the time when someone used the port-a-pottie and we almost tipped it over with them inside.

Photos (Jupiter, FL is in the house):

Sander and special someone

Sander with a different special someone and something special that was just given to that special someone. ALL NIGHT LONG!

Something about wearing contacts all day makes my eyes very tired. Another Jupiterian Brian celebrates his birth with a PRafter shaka.

SATURDAY MARCH 7th 2009 (update)

It's still Saturday, but I don't feel like posting tomorrow, so here's some stuff from the other night at the premiere for The Present:

Brookie showed up for the second showing and then I took this photo

Scott wouldn't pose for me, but I took a photo anyway. Nice glasses.

I forgot the name of the band, but it included Ray Barbee and two twins. They were a good warm-up for the show (yeah, it's blurry--deal)

The film opened up with some groovy waves. Yes, that's what that picture is.

That was last night. Tonight we went to an art show at the Surf Indian gallery in Pacific Beach. Check a couple photos:

Cool stuff and the prices aren't bad neither (except for those boards--they's bispensive).

SATURDAY MARCH 7th 2009

Went to go see the new Thomas Campbell movie last night (twice actually) and it was a radical ride. Go see it if they're in your neighborhood (click here for schedule).

Old friend Mike Deneka sent me this piece of history:

I'd have to look it up, but I'm guessing this is sometime around 1991/1992-ish.

THURSDAY MARCH 5th 2009

Some reaction to my gold overlay here at the PRafterDotCom Headquarters... let's just leave it at that.

Pretty awesome to see my friend Scott in this preview for the newest Thomas Campbell movie The Present:

WEDNESDAY MARCH 4th 2009

Yes, we may be getting a little more frequent with the postings because I feel like it.

I also feel a little bit more like a pirate today--got a gold filling on one of my molars and it is somewhat visible when I smile (luckily that isn't too often--aARRR). I'm thinking about getting a grill next.

Right about now, you may be asking yourself, "why did he get a gold tooth?"

My reasons are as follows:

  1. it's actually an "onlay" not a tooth
  2. the average lifetime of a porcelain onlay/crown is somewhere like 10-15 years (says my dentist) where a gold onlay/crown will last something like 30 years or longer
  3. The rate of breakage for a porcelain job is also much higher than gold
  4. I already got a woman, so what do I have to worry about?
  5. I like to flaunt my enormous wealth in the face of my unemployed friends and family (that's a funny one)

Been thinking about updating the site, but it's just so much work. Some people say that I should just bag it all and move over to a free Blogspot service (bland I say and limited options to what I can do with the site) or install one of those Wordpress jobbies, which will aid in updating and changing the site around (couldn't figure it out, I say to them).

So, I'm probably not going to update the looks of this site... this layout has worked since the first day I wrote out the code for my Angelfire page way, way back in the winter of 2002. I say that you have to either deal with it or go to one of the competing websites that discuss South Jersey, surfing, politics, science, and the life of Patrick A. Rafter.

Some work from the other day:

And check out this high-tech stuff coming out of the Brian Brown laboratory--my new board in virtual mode:

Man, that got me excited... can't wait to see this thing in reality. Finished product will have a swallow tail, Futures, and it'll be hot to the touch.

TUESDAY MARCH 3rd 2009

I've got this new webpage-makin' program I'm trying out here. So far, it looks exactly the same... maybe I need to ask one of those webpage people to show me the new stuff... boring so far.

And speaking of new webpage, Brian Brown has a new site for his surfing board building business (built by the one and only FALZONE):

Brian Brown Surfboards

I haven't been using my film cameras very often lately and I've only ever owned really crappy digital cameras, so I kinda went overboard with Scott's camera last weekend... 143 photos later (he had the rapid-fire mechanism too--so fun) and I got maybe 2 photos that were any good. If you watch any "modern" photographer (i.e. one who uses a high-quality digital camera) they will shoot one or two photos and then look at the back of their camera to check out the image they just shot and adjust settings accordingly. Me? I shot over 100 photos and probably looked at the results twice... I totally missed out on the fun of shooting with a high-quality digital camera! The fun part is getting really freaky with the settings and immediately seeing how those experiments worked out. Oh well, next time.

A good subject. Sort of Obama-esque, eh?
