NOAA Cruise Part 3-Mainland Mexico (cocos frios, cocos caliente, y olas altas)
So, yeah, I got to visit the Galapagos... a couple of days and then back on da boat. Luckily, it was just for a short trip (only 10 days!).
A picture taken before I shaved my head
Check it out, they called me "scientist Patrick Rafter" the whole time
This is some of what kept me busy on da boat: papers, a ukelele, Stormrider Guide to the World, Trader Joes Blue Corn Chips, the Holga, the Ipod, the Harmonica (very much), People's History of the U.S by Zinn (read most of it), and there's the laptop I gave to some little girl in Mexico.
The Bathymograph shows how narrow the continental shelf is off Mainland Mexico
Probably the reddest sky I've ever seen
I think this was the last buoy cast we had, very nice shot I think
We finally pulled into Manzanillo Harbor, but I couldn't find my friend Rodrigo until later that day. The guards at the marina entrance were a little bit cranky. This might be the best photo.
Rodrigo went to Scripps with me, now he works there. He picked me up in this sporty little car
and we sped off to our first destination, a small town.
I was shocked to see mangy dogs everywhere (sensing the sarcasm?).
I gave the laptop computer to the little girl who lives in this hotel.

Here's the view from our room.
